Vancouver Physiotherapy Hub is a clinic providing physiotherapy to the downtown community for 25 years. Our physiotherapists and kinesiologists have extensive experience treating knee pain related to tendonitis, arthritis, meniscus tears, ACL and MCL injuries, torn ligaments, infections, and more.
At Vancouver Physiotherapy Hub, we can help you – no matter your knee pain. That’s because our approach is unique: we use a combination of manual therapy, IMS, ultrasound therapy, low-level laser therapy, taping, exercise prescription, and more. We aim to not only treat your knee pain but to make sure that it doesn’t reoccur.
For knee pain relief, we recommend the following:
The knee is made up of a complicated structure of tendons, ligaments, cartilage, and bones that surround the knee joint. injury or infection occurs, it can happen in any one or multiple components of the knee, triggering that awful knee pain that you’re experiencing. Because the knee is a complex web, the risk for injury is much higher – which is why knee pain is SO common.
While the structure of the knee is complicated, treating your pain doesn’t have to be. At Vancouver Physiotherapy Hub, our approach to treating knee pain is unique: we aim to not only treat your pain but to treat the root cause of your pain so that it doesn’t reoccur. Our physiotherapists have a vast amount of experience in treating knee pain, and we can get you back to feeling your best in no time!
What Can I Expect From My Session?
At your first session, one of our physiotherapists will begin by performing an assessment to establish a diagnosis of your knee pain. This will include a detailed health history, taking any information about past injuries or issues concerning your knee or your body. In addition, they willalso perform some range of motion and movement tests to further inform them on your knee pain.
During your one-on-one session, our physiotherapist will use a combination of manual therapy and stretching and strengthening exercises to alleviate your acute symptoms and support proper movement in your knee. Our physiotherapists are trained in many techniques, such as IMS, low-level laser, acupuncture. Depending on your injury and pain, they may recommend additional techniques for you.
Your physiotherapist will also review any fitness activity you are doing to make suggestions to tailor your routine to support proper movement. You will also receive a complete treatment plan, which includes any additional treatments that you need, exercise prescription, homecare strengthening and stretching exercises, and any additional tips to help alleviate symptoms of pain.
In some instances, our physiotherapists may recommend other types of treatment – such as chiropractic care, massage therapy and acupuncture. Because Vancouver Physiotherapy Hub is part of a larger multidisciplinary clinic called Electra Health, getting access to these treatments is easy!
Frequently Asked Questions
Because the structure of the knee is so complex, there are many different causes for knee pain. However, some are more common than others: twisting injuries are often the root cause of knee pain. This usually results in tears to your ACL, meniscus, or other ligaments.
But knee pain isn’t always related to a specific incident – arthritis, surgery, infections, or tendonitis from overuse can cause pain in or around your knee.
This depends largely on your injury. With proper rest, care and physiotherapy, your pain can become less severe after about 3 weeks. In certain instances (tears, surgery, fractures) healing can take anywhere from 12-16 weeks.
Our physiotherapists’ main objects are pain relief and prevention. We provide manual therapy, low-level (or cold) laser, taping, and stretching. We also provide exercise prescription and stretching and strengthening moves to ensure that the causes of your pain don’t re-occur.
Because we are part of a larger multidisciplinary clinic, we can also recommend other types of treatment that can benefit you. These include acupuncture, osteopathy, and massage.
Depending on the severity of your knee pain, our physiotherapists often recommend the following for a good knee stretch to add to your routine:
- Knee Straighteners
- Straight Leg Raise
- Lying Hamstring Raise
- Calf Stretch
- Standing Quad Stretch
At Vancouver Physiotherapy Hub, we know just how painful and debilitating knee pain can be. That is why our physiotherapists not only aim to treat your pain, but to keep it from returning! With a vast amount of experience in knee injuries and pain, you are in the best hands at our clinic.

Kris CuNovember 7, 2024. The team at Electra health are very kind and professional, I can’t recommend them enough! Karim Hilali was a fantastic Physiotherapist and helped me plan my recovery efficiently and effectively. He helped me understand the target muscles that we needed to work on and informed me of the best practices to keep them engaged and healthy. Can’t ask for a better experience. Maria SantosNovember 2, 2024. Christina is amazing, I was referred to her by a friend and I can see why! She’s knowledgeable and caring, she takes the time to understand and educate. satanai reinhardtOctober 22, 2024. Had severe back pain that would not go away, I was able to make an appointment the same day with Karim Hilali and he was very knowledgeable and did a variety of exercises and treatments, and sent me home with a summary of what we did so I could continue the exercises. He was professional and engaging, I would absolutely return to this practice. 2nRAZ EntertainmentOctober 5, 2024. This was my first time seeing Chris Connolly and he was very professional. His needles helped me a lot with my back pain. Also Tanya at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend coming here Joanna WooOctober 4, 2024. I've been treated by Karim 1-2x per week for the last 2-3 months due to an injury to my wrist and he's been a key part of my recovery! When we started, I could not turn a doorknob or lift anything above 2lbs, but with his guidance, I've been steadily recovering. I appreciate his level of expertise and thoroughness from a professional perspective, but also really enjoy sharing stories about the ridiculous things our cats do that make us both hate and love those chaotic fluffballs. Bree JOctober 1, 2024. I live about 13 hours north of this practice so I had to resort to a virtual appointment. Words can’t express how grateful I am they offer that. Karim actually educated me on my symptoms, and gave me great advice with an even better exercise program. I have spent over $2,000 locally in the last 6 months trying to feel better. Who knew my relief would be from a virtual visit. Thank you so much! Ming KwanOctober 1, 2024. Jennifer Aberhart is amazing, I would definitely recommend Jennifer for Acupuncture and Physiotherapy treatments. Sreyashee BhaumikSeptember 23, 2024.
