Our Approach

Motor vehicle accidents can cause a tremendous amount of damage to your body; concussions, whiplash, spinal pain and injury, inflammation, and soft-tissue damage are all common side effects of car accidents. Because of the complex nature of these conditions, our physiotherapists use a multidisciplinary approach to treatment, which yields the best outcome for our clients.

That is why our PAARCC program combines physiotherapy, active rehab, acupuncture, massage therapy, chiropractic care, and counselling. Overseen by a kinesiologist, we design, implement, and support you through a 3-month recovery program. All of these treatments are covered under ICBC and come at no cost to you, and because we are part of Electra Health, these treatments are easily accessible at our clinic location.

What Can I Expect From My Session?

You are immediately matched with a kinesiologist at the outset of the program. Your kinesiologist will be your go-to throughout your rehabilitation: they lead a team of specialized therapists, who design, implement, and move you through a personalized rehabilitation program.

During your initial visit, your kinesiologist will thoroughly assess you to understand the scope of your injuries. Because motor-vehicle accidents are often accompanied by whiplash and concussion symptoms, your kinesiologist will ensure your room is quiet and comfortable, so that you can relax. Based on this assessment, the kinesiologist will design, implement, and monitor a personalized rehabilitation program for you.

Alongside physiotherapy, your kinesiology can recommend other types of therapies, such as chiropractic care, massage therapy, acupuncture, and counselling. As part of Electra Health, getting access to any of these treatments is easy – we are all located under one roof! And because we bill to ICBC directly, our administrative team will handle all of your billing – so you don’t have to pay out of pocket for any of your treatments.

The entire program is designed over a three-month period with weekly appointments to support your recovery. Once you approach the last phase of our program, you will begin active rehabilitation – a necessary component for your recovery. This is an exercise program developed by your kinesiologist, which will get you back on track to resuming your daily activities

Frequently Asked Questions

When can I start physiotherapy after an accident?

Our physiotherapists recommend that you start your treatment within 7-10 days of your accident. That is because you are in the acute stages of injury, and getting treatment at this time gives you the best possible outcome for your recovery.

Are my treatments covered by ICBC?

Yes! There are no user fees, and your treatments are fully covered by ICBC. ICBC automatically pre-approves you for treatment within 3 months of your accident date. As such, it is imperative that you call us right away for your recovery. Below is what you are preapproved for:

  • Physiotherapy: 25 treatments
  • Massage: 12 treatments
  • Kinesiology (active rehab): 12 treatments
  • Chiropractic: 25 treatments
  • Acupuncture: 12 treatments
  • Counselling: 12 treatments
How do I get started with the ICBC program?

In order to get started with your appointments, you need to provide the following to our reception team:

  • ICBC Claim number
  • Date of your accident
  • Full Name
  • Date of birth

After that, we will contact your claim specialist on your behalf and take care of the rest!

What if it takes me longer than 3 months to recover?

Each case is individual, and we understand that it can take longer, depending on the extent of your injuries. If your recovery requires further treatments, your kinesiologist will submit an extension request to ICBC on your behalf. If this is the case, you may require a doctor’s referral.

At Vancouver Physiotherapy Hub, we know how disruptive car accidents can be to your life. That is why our approach is unique: combining multiple modalities, we custom-design a rehabilitation program to fit your individual needs. And the best part? It is completely covered by ICBC, so it comes at no cost to you!
