Vestibular Physiotherapy Practitioners
What is Vestibular Physiotherapy?
The vestibular system is located in your inner ear – it detects your head position and movement and the neurological areas associated with this. When there is an issue with your vestibular system, your visual and auditory senses are affected and cause symptoms such as tinnitus, dizziness, nausea, feelings of imbalance, blurry vision, fatigue and more. While these symptoms can be disruptive to your daily life, they are very treatable through vestibular physiotherapy.
At Vancouver Physiotherapy Hub, our approach to vestibular physiotherapy is unique: our physiotherapists are trained in vestibular rehabilitation and treatment focuses not only around alleviating your symptoms, but preventing them recurring altogether.
Our physiotherapists also know that vestibular rehabilitation is most effective when combined with other types of treatment, including acupuncture, massage therapy and more. As such, our therapists will often refer you to other treatments as part of your rehabilitation. Because Vancouver Physiotherapy Hub is part of a larger multidisciplinary clinic, accessing these treatments comes at no hassle to you!
What Can I Expect From My Session?
In your first session, your physiotherapist will give you a full assessment before beginning treatment, reviewing your health history, any past injuries or accidents, and your movement goals. This not only provides a basis for the rest of the treatment, but also gives your physiotherapist an indication of what may be causing your vestibular issues in the first place.
Based on your assessment, your physiotherapist will provide manual therapy and rehabilitation to alleviate your symptoms. Our physiotherapists have a vast amount of experience treating vestibular-related issues, including BPPV for vertigo treatment, the Epley and Semont maneuvers, neurological rehabilitation, balance enhancement training and more. Other options include eye exercises, balance challenges and rehabilitation, ear sensitivity training and effective strategies to deal with any cognitive impairments.
Your therapist will also provide you with a treatment plan, consisting of homecare and necessary follow-up appointments to tackle both the symptoms and the cause of your vestibular issues. Because vestibular rehabilitation works most effectively when combined with other treatments, your physiotherapist may also recommend other therapy types, such as acupuncture, massage, cranio-sacral therapy, osteopathy and more. As Vancouver Physiotherapy Hub is part of a larger multidisciplinary clinic, getting access to these treatments is easy!

I've been treated by Karim 1-2x per week for the last 2-3 months due to an injury to my wrist and he's been a key part of my recovery! When we started, I could not turn a doorknob or lift anything above 2lbs, but with his guidance, I've been steadily recovering. I appreciate his level of expertise and thoroughness from a professional perspective, but also really enjoy sharing stories about the ridiculous things our cats do that make us both hate and love those chaotic fluffballs. Bree JOctober 1, 2024. I live about 13 hours north of this practice so I had to resort to a virtual appointment. Words can’t express how grateful I am they offer that.
