Our Practitioners
Our Approach
We find that our approach is the most effective: we focus on one-on-one treatments, which means that you are the only priority in a treatment session. We firmly believe in manual therapy and functional movement, and so our physiotherapists are hands-on and teach you real-life movements that will let you continue your recovery on your own.
In addition, we recognize that sports injuries are multi-faceted, and find that our clients get the most benefit when they are receiving complementary therapies.
At Vancouver Physiotherapy Hub, we are excited to be part of an interdisciplinary clinic, which makes this easy for you: with over 45 health professionals providing a wide range of complementary modalities, you have access to all the sports therapies needed at your fingertips.
What Can I Expect From My Session?
Your initial appointment with your physiotherapist includes a comprehensive assessment of your biomechanics and any specific injuries you might have. Our physiotherapists do not use therapeutic machines; instead, they treat you manually for your whole session, listening to you, and providing you with education and feedback to help you recover. They employ a range of techniques, including manual therapy, exercise prescription, IMS acupuncture, stretching and strengthening.
After your initial appointment, you and your physiotherapist will develop a treatment approach and decide on the recommended subsequent visits. Because our physiotherapists know that sports health is not necessarily about rehabilitation, but also about prevention, they strongly advocate for continuous care. Your physiotherapist may also recommend other types of therapy, such as Registered Massage Therapy, Acupuncture, and Chiropractic care.
Frequently Asked Questions
Sports-related injuries are increasingly common. The types of physiotherapy treatment techniques applied in sports physiotherapy are not necessarily all that different from the type of physiotherapy treatments you’d receive when rehabilitating from a health condition, or a motor vehicle accident, but they’re applied in a specific way to relieve tension in the surrounding areas and allow you to “get back in the game.”
Sports physiotherapy often involves modified exercise programs too, allowing the individual to maintain a level of fitness and strength without causing more damage to the injured area.
Sports physiotherapy can help with a myriad of conditions, many of which can cause other health conditions. Below are some of the more popular issues that we treat:
- Acute or chronic pain
- Exercise-related injuries
- Pre or post-surgical rehab
- Joint injuries
- Whiplash
- Tendinitis
- Torn rotator cuffs
- ACL, MCL injuries
- Broken or sprained bones
- IT-band injuries
- Back pain
- Running stitches
- Sports hernia
- Muscle tears or pulls
- Sciatica
- Tennis Elbow
We believe not only in treating issues but preventing them from reoccurring. We believe in spending the session with the client, listening to their issues, and treating them based on their concerns. Our treatments focus on teaching you real-life movements that will let you continue your recovery on your own. Our physiotherapists trust that manual therapy and exercise prescription is the best way to ensure that your injuries are not only fixed, so you can get back to the sports you love.
We know not only how frustrating sports injuries can be, but how frustrating it is when they won’t go away. Our physiotherapists treat you for the whole session through manual therapy and focus on teaching you functional movements for continuing care. In addition, our physiotherapists know that sports health is multifactorial and recognize the benefit of a multi-modality approach to treatment. Vancouver Physiotherapy Hub is part of Electra Health, and so our physiotherapists work alongside 45 other health professionals from different fields (RMT, chiro, acupuncture), which ensures that you will get back to the sports you enjoy in no time!
